Towards Better 3D Interaction in Extended Reality: Perception, Performance, and Reliability
Prof. Anil Ufuk Batmaz, Concordia University (Montreal, ON, Canada)
Abstract: Constrained-optimization-based control has proven a suitable paradigm for decision-making in autonomous systems deployed over long time horizons in unknown and evolving environments. However, the complexity of optimization-based controllers makes analytical verification significantly more challenging than synthesis. In this talk, we present a novel approach to analyzing and synthesizing optimization-based controllers based on analytic center selection of differential inclusions. The control framework applies to ordinary and partial differential equations and is demonstrated experimentally on a traffic density regulation problem using a platoon of mobile robots.
Anil Ufuk Batmaz is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. His research is focused on developing novel hardware, software, and cognitive solutions to increase user performance and user experience in virtual environments, specifically for training systems. His main expertise is creating eNicient and eNective virtual reality applications, considering the limitations of human cognition. He builds applications that can be used in operating rooms, surgical planning, airports, maintenance, military applications, and factories, where motor learning plays a crucial role in the success of the task.
