Biografia
Prof. Casavola is full professor of Mechanical Design (SSD ING-IND/14 Machine Design) at Politecnico di Bari and she teaches Design of Innovative Materials, Experimentation on Aerostructures and Experimental Mechanics.

Curriculum
Prof Casavola’s research activity is concerned with mechanical characterization (static, fatigue, impact tests) of innovative materials (aluminium alloy, titanium alloy, foam sandwich, composite materials, sintered materials, polymeric and biodegradable materials), experimental stress analysis also on real components (1:1 scale) and in situ inspection (i.e. by means of optical techniques, DIC, acoustic emission, strain gages and Bragg’s fibers), study of residual stress generation and evolution and measurements of residual stress (hole drilling method both with strain gage rosette and ESPI, X-Ray diffractometer, Barkhausen noise), monitoring of electronic board and components by means of speckle interferometry.
Prof. Casavola authored more than 280 papers and is inventor of 3 patents. She is included (as Principal Investigator) in many research projects of Dept. of Mechanics, Mathematic and Management of Politecnico di Bari and cooperates with different research centers and industries.
Prof. Casavola is co-examiner of about 100 degree thesis in Mechanical Engineer, supervisor of about 50 degree thesis in Mechanical Engineer and tutor/co-tutor of 14 PhD student in Mechanical Design and Biomechanics and Advanced Production System at Politecnico di Bari.
Prof. Casavola is Scientific Director of Lab. of Static and Dynamic tests, Lab. of Residual Stresses, Lab. of Experimental Stress Analysis, Lab. EMILIA (Experimental Mechanics Integrated Lab. In Aerospace), Lab. of Telemetry at Politecnico di Bari.
Prof. Casavola acts as expert reviewer for the evaluation of scientific and industrial research projects both of the Italian Ministry of the University and of the Research and for international Entities
