Pierpaolo Pontrandolfo

Pierpaolo Pontrandolfo was born in Bari (Italy) in 1965, holds the laurea degree in Mechanical Engineering (1990) and the PhD in Engineering of Advanced Manufacturing Systems (1998).
After working at Arsenale dell’Esercito, Napoli, as army officer (1991-1992) and at FIAT Auto as production engineer (1992-1993), he joined Politecnico di Bari (www.poliba.it), ‘PdB’ from now on, as Assistant Professor in the field of Business and Management Engineering, where he became Associate and Full Professor in 2001 and 2004, respectively.
Since 2009 he is collaborator at the InterNeg Research Centre (http://interneg.concordia.ca), John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, directed by Prof. Gregory E. Kersten.
In 1995 and 1997 he has been visiting scholar at the University of South Florida (www.usf.edu), Tampa, USA, where he worked with Prof. O. Geoffrey Okogbaa (supervisor) and Prof. Tapas K. Das.
ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENTS (SELECTION)
2002-2009. Coordinator in Puglia of the Italian Maintenance Association (AIMAN - www.aiman.com).
2006-2009. Head of the Dep. of Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development, PdB.
2006-2009. Member of the Academic Senate of PdB.
2009-2011. Vice-chair of the PhD committee “Environmental Engineering” at the Dep. of Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development, PdB.
2010-2012. Member of the Committee for the Evaluation of Università del Salento (www.unisalento.it).
2011. One of the 15 member of the Commission in charge to design the Statute of PdB (as by DL 30/12/2010, n. 240).
2011-2016. Member, as representative of PdB, of the Board of Directors of LASERINN S.c.a.r.l. (www.laserinn.com), an organization focused on R&D projects and technological transfer.
2013-2014. Member of the national commission for the habilitation of full and associate professors in the scientific field Business and Management Engineering.
1993-today. Member of AiIG – Italian association of management engineering (www.ingegneriagestionale.it). Since October 2017 elected member of the national board of directors for the two-year academic period 2017-2019.
2012-today. Member of the PhD committee “Mechanical and Management Engineering” at the Dep. of Mechanics, Mathematics, and Management, PdB.
2014-2015. Chair of the Ethical Committee of PdB.
2015-today. Delegate of the Rector for the organizational innovation of PdB.
2015-today. Member of the committee for strategic planning of PdB.
2015-today. Member of the steering committee of the technical and scientific group on the theme “Strategies and management for the next generation manufacturing systems” of the National Cluster for Smart Manufacturing (www.fabbricaintelligente.it).
2016-today. Head of the “Centro Interuniversitario di Ricerca ‘Industria 4.0’”, established by PdB and all other public universities in Apulia region, to coordinate programs related to Industry 4.0.
